Global Business Advisor
Based in New York, Mr. Marquardt serves as a global business advisor and speaker to corporations in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He works closely with chief executives and senior leadership teams on strategic issues and advises Boards of Directors and Audit Committees on effective risk management measures, corporate governance, geographic expansion, and emerging technology issues.
Soon after founding his global risk management firm, former FBI Director Louis J. Freeh asked Mr. Marquardt to apply his entrepreneurial and international business experience by serving as the company's first President. He also assisted with the group's business development efforts in Europe years later. The Governor of the State of Delaware asked Mr. Marquardt to join him on his first international trade mission in 2010 as his only outside advisor.
From 2007 to April 2016, Mr. Marquardt served as independent chairman of AA International, the international parent of Asia Assistance Network (M) Sdn Bhd, based in Kuala Lumpur, and eight other companies throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Since then he has served as President Commissioner of PT AA International Indonesia, a medical assistance provider based in Jakarta.
Over the past 15 years, Mr. Marquardt has traveled to Malaysia more than 60 times and also lived in Petaling Jaya for three months. He has conducted business with major Malaysian corporations like Petronas, Sunway, Maybank, and CIMB and has established relationships with local law firms like Shearn Delamore. He also has spent significant time in Singapore and Indonesia as well as Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.
Mr. Marquardt grew up in Berlin and emigrated to the United States soon after witnessing the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. He had the opportunity to lead a fast-growing technology company in the United States before being recruited to lead a new start-up venture in late 1999. Mr. Marquardt served for seven years as co-founder and chief executive of the health services company MediGuide and led its marketing and business development initiatives in Europe and in the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr. Marquardt graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of New England and is a Board Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), as well as a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA).
Following his personal passions, Mr. Marquardt serves on several non-profit corporation boards in the United States, including the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (based in Washington D.C.), where he serves on the Audit Committee, and the American Cancer Society’s South Atlantic Division, where he serves as Chairman.
